USGA Rules on Amateur Status
As only merchandise prizes are awarded in our events, players under USGA rules
maintain their amateur status when participating in our events.
The following
excerpt
is from the USGA website -
http://www.usga.org/playing/amateur_status/rules/amstat_rules.asp
"Note: A player may participate in an event in which prize money or its
equivalent is offered, provided that prior to participation he
irrevocably waives his right to accept prize money (cash) in that event. (See USGA Policy on Gambling for explanation of playing for prize money.)" |
